Thank U Bo Diddley....

I wrote this song not that long ago. He never really got the credit he really deserved.

"You taught the blues to rock 'n roll, Mister Bo Diddley..."

Thank U Bo Diddley

World Premiere...MisterB & the Band Videos

OK, we're definitely rock stars now. We've got our own videos, shot by our friend Chuck from Videocentricity.net, at our Puka Bar gig when we opened for the Pirates of the Black Swan. These are two songs from our new album (soon to be released):

In the Company of Ghosts

Thank U Bo Diddley

Hope you enjoy them & in case you didn't get to see the the Pirates of the Black Swan, here's a little sample of what you missed.

Yo Ho Yo Ho

See what you've been missing. So come on out and see some live music real soon.

Introducing the Band

Alright, so it took me forever to get the band together. But it was worth the wait. Allow me to introduce The Band....

On Bass Guitar & Harmonica - the fabulous Cathy B (yes, we are related)

On Lead Guitar - Leo Cates

On Drums & Percussion - Danny Bam
We've locked ourselves away each week to get ready for the release of our new CD, Just Like This and we're soundin' pretty good. Or like I told them, "Guys, we're road ready!!" So look out. You're gonna be seeing a lot of us for the next couple of months while I finish the CD.

And, oh yeah, you're all invited to our CD Release Party. We'll let you know when it's going to happen. You're not gonna want to miss it 'cause we have our musicians friends performing all day and the last one was a blast. If you don't believe me check out the CD Release Party slideshow.

MisterB's Jukebox on WPMD.org

For the last year I've been hosting MisterB's Jukebox on the Mo Power Show (the second Tuesday of the month) and it's been a blast. We've had some great music, given lots of artists their first radio airplay and had a lot of laughs while we did it.

It's with a combination of reluctance and anticipation for what lies ahead that I've decided it's time for the Jukebox to go dark. I'm finishing up my second (and I think a more radio-friendly) CD, and have put together a band to support the CD in live performances, and I'm ready to go and see where this next CD will take us. But I did promise Mo I'd drop in now and then.

Mo is one of the leading advocates of local indie music and her weekly show features some of the best local indie artists. Check her out on the internet at wpmd.org. It's a great hour of indie music. She really loves what she's doing.

In case you missed any of the shows, here's the archives with links to the artists. You can either stream and listen or download to listen later. If you like what you hear, go to the artists site and find some way to support them.

Here's a Little Preview of the New CD...

I'm getting ready to release my second CD and I've put together a band (myself, Cathy Buddemeyer-bass, Leo Cates-lead guitar, and Jim Malkin-drums) to support that.

Meanwhile take a listen to what we're working on.

You can listen to the new songs at:

If you like the songs or have any suggestions drop me a line at...

MisterB on Flat Cat Radio

My buddy Dave Strauss has started a very unique approach to podcasting by using MySpace as the entry point to listening.

Broadcast every Sunday at 7pm on MySpace...Flat Cat Radio he's features some of the best local songwriters in southern California with cuts from their CD's, in-depth interviews, and live performances.

I spent a very pleasant hour in his studios on the famous Route 66. Even previewed some songs from my upcoming CD. Click on this link to listen.

MisterB finally discovers MySpace

This is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time...and it took a long time for my boys to help me recognize it's potential.

It's not only an easy way to get my music to a larger audience but it's also a great way for me to keep in touch with all the cool people I meet in the music community (and you all know how hard it is to keep in touch with all the people you know). It really rocks!

Stop and say hi at www.myspace.com/misterbmusic.

Some pixs...

I know we've been pretty quiet lately but that doesn't mean that we haven't been doing anything
. Here's the latest...
(Don't forget to click on the underlined words to see the pixs.)

What Me Play Bass?: I've joined my songwriter friend DL Smith as his bass player. I decided this was the year to learn how to play the bass that's been hanging on my wall for a couple of years. Luckily Cathy B was able to show me some shortcuts. I think I like it. It's cool to stand in the background for a change and try to look cool..

Prettier Than Pink: My buddy, Alonzo Xzavier invited Cathy and I to open for the cool all-girl group Prettier Than Pink over a the Royal Cup. As always we had a great time.

Private Parties: We had some wonderful times at private parties last year. We were invited by Ken Huntington to join him at a luau. He also invited us to the most elaborate Halloween party I've ever seen. We were joined by our friend Jim Haggard.

A Little Plug for SongNet: If you check my Calender regularly you'll notice I always have a date listed for SongNet. It's a monthly showcase of really good songwriters hosted by Jim Potkey and Jimi Yamagishi. If you're a songwriter you really should check out their website.

Long Beach City College: I've been taking Record Production courses at LBCC the last couple of semesters, trying to get better at recording, mixing, and mastering my own projects. It's always amazing to find out how much you didn't know.

Producer's Hat: I've been helping some talented songwriters, Richard Leon, Taylor Inc, Alonzo Xzavier, and Alex Causey, produce their songs. Practical application of what I'm learning at LBCC and some really cool music is coming out of these sessions.

Hope life is going good for each of you.

Amber Afternoon (New Song)

Thought you might enjoy listening to a new song based on my favorite poet, Linda Strong's, work. In her Watersnake Blues CD (produced by Linda and MisterB) she has a poem called Amber Afternoon and she laid down the challenge of someone writing a song to the poem.

Well, I took up the challenge (really, it's my interpretation of the poem) and I got to try out my new studio while I was writing and recording and now you can hear the result.

I was going for a Leonard Cohn sound but my sons say it sounds more like Pink Floyd to them. Take a listen and tell me what you think. Log into the Chat Room and let me have your opinions.

MisterB's Studio

It's hard to believe it's been a year since our CD Release Party for Wade in the River and we were able to celebrate the anniversary by opening MisterB Studios.

No more tiny bedroom office/studio. It took a long time for my son Sean (thank you for all your hard work) and I to finish, but I've finally gotten moved into MisterB Studios. It's a great place to write, record, and jam with friends. Click here to take your own tour...

I'm busy at work writing the next CD, setting up gigs, and figuring out more ways to let more people hear what we're doing.

Many, many thanks to all of you who've booked us, bought our CD, and came out to the shows. We've had a great year with you.

CD Release Party - We Got the Pictures!!

MisterB's CD Release Party was, in a word, GREAT!! We had over 70 people come in an out (mostly in) from 4pm to midnight. The stage was jammed with some great musicians.

The bar owner, Suzy, was not only impressed with the day's receipts (and invited us back anytime) but was also impressed with all the great musicians that were playing.

My Band and I was a hit with the Kaiser folks she works with. And I'd like to thank them once again for coming out and supporting us.

We not only had a lot of fun and but even sold a bunch of CDs.
If you missed getting yours, they're now on sale at CDBaby.com and Tower.com.

I had Linda Diener, photographer for LongBeachin With Mo, capture the day. I've set up an automated slide show so no more clicking.
Ok, lets see the pictures!

Whew - now maybe I can catch my breath for a second. Naw, I'll be starting my Wade in the River Southland Tour soon.

Don't know what all the fuss is about?
Check out the MP3 samples of
Wade in the River.
